Why do the hard work of building a grounded, multi-dimensional self when you can just adopt a ready-made template?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We see this everywhere. Some people anchor their entire identity to a physical or mental diagnosis, reducing themselves to a label and filtering every life experience through it. But an even more pervasive example of this is the obsession with personality frameworks like the MBTI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"483\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.apexo.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_0178-1024x483.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-42\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.apexo.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_0178-1024x483.webp 1024w, https:\/\/blog.apexo.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_0178-300x142.webp 300w, https:\/\/blog.apexo.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_0178-768x362.webp 768w, https:\/\/blog.apexo.app\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_0178.webp 1100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MBTI offers 16 neatly packaged profiles. At best, a framework like that captures maybe 10% to 20% of who a person truly is\u2014which is a helpful starting point. The problem arises when people mistake that initial 20% for the whole picture. They freeze their growth, ignore the remaining 80% of their potential, and start asking questions like, <em>&#8220;Would my personality type do this?&#8221;<\/em> tailored to base their life decisions on the answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By choosing the illusion of a pre-packaged archetype over the discomfort of actual self-discovery, they take a lazy shortcut. Over time, they realize they\u2019ve stalled while everyone around them evolved\u2014trapped inside a superficial shell of their own choosing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be clear, I don&#8217;t reject personality theories entirely.
